ホテル Hotel is a photo installation project consisting of over 3000+ still shots, here some selected snapshots. [*For films see separate category.]
The project was created developing over time a small group of semi-fictional characters, “Superstars”, personified in form of small-scale clay puppets, in reference to the voyeurism that exists when intimate photographs that are labelled with personal names of the people depicted, who are personally unknown to the viewers, collectors or people marketing such photographs.
Their characters are amalgams of characteristics from people I know personally or interacted with casually without knowing them deeper, my own, and situations that happened to me during the creation of the puppets, translated into situations of more importance in the life of a human being; for this reason, the project contains an autobiographical element.
These details that over time formed a fictive narrative surrounding the Superstars are not essential to know when viewing the project in the exhibited formats.
